Decisions Sunday - 9.29.13

Meet our Newest Members to the BVCC Family...

CINDY BONDS - At the encouragement from her son’s family in Springdale, Cindy moved from Conway to NWA five years after caring for her mother for a time.  She also has a daughter who resides in Mountain View, AR. Even though Cindy had to take an early retirement from her school teacher position due to a serious car accident and later a stroke, she enjoyed many years serving as a church youth director and was active in the singles’ ministry. Cindy is a professional floral arranger and has owned and operated several shops in the past and continues to share her ideas and talents with others. She enjoys caring for her two pets: a Shih Tzu dog and Persian cat,  going to yard sales, flea markets and craft fairs. Being a part of God’s church has been an important part of Cindy’s life. She attended a local church regularly but was blessed when someone from BVCC invited her one day when they met in a local salon. Cindy said “The people at BVCC have been so welcoming. I knew I had found my new church home.”  She is already plugged in here... joining Dave & Betty Cooper’s life group, attending the Tuesday morning Bible study, Side by Side ladies group and going to the recent Discovery.

PAULA DEVANEY  -     Paula was looking for a special neighborhood church that was closer to her home when she visited BVCC and  was thrilled to find her good friends, Larry and Dianne Shoe, already attending.  She is excited about becoming part of the church family and has always had a passion for children and missions. Wanting to be near her mother, Paula moved to NWA five years ago from her long-time home in Wichita. She is a full-time caregiver and was blessed to find a wonderful position doing this in a Rogers home.  She has three children residing in Portland, San Antonio and Wichita. In her spare time, Paula likes to walk, play games and cards. She has connected with Jerry and Louise Lamb’s life group and our BVCC Singles Ministry.

ROY & TANRA DAUZAT  - The Dauzat’s have resided in NWA approximately six years.  Roy, originally from Louisiana and Tanra from Fort Smith, met while in Joplin. Roy is employed with NPD and does insights for Sam’s Club. Tanra previously owned her own CPA business before a devastating car accident changed the course of her life. They have a son and daughter living in Bentonville.  Roy and Tanra love the outdoors and “getting out in nature...God’s glory.” They love to kayak, canoe, hike, garden and do photography. Other passions include sailing and scuba diving  (Tanra is a Dive Master.)  Roy also enjoys wind surfing, paddle boarding, woodworking (even making his own paddle boards), and gives ski lessons and teaches large river rafting. Roy has been a park ranger and firefighter in Colorado and California, and led a team of 50 volunteers behind the first responders during the Joplin Tornado. They were drawn to BVCC because it is non-denominational and have felt the Spirit’s moving in the talks. They have served on the Guest Services greeting team and hope to do more with our Outreach Ministry.

STEVE & JUDI FOWLER  -  Just two months into their move from Loveland, Colorado, Steve and Judi Fowler are enjoying their new life in Bella Vista and living closer to their son in Siloam Springs.  (They have another son in Ohio. ) Steve has been employed through the years as a groundskeeper for golf courses and is currently working part time taking care of the grounds at Cooper Memorial Chapel.  Judi was employed for 13 years as a teacher with a Christian preschool in Loveland.  Steve and Judi enjoy fishing, golf and outdoors activities.
The Fowler’s have always been involved serving in church ministry and attended the Cowboy Church in Colorado. Steve assisted with the Stephan’s Ministry and Judi in Women's Ministry. While visiting other churches in the area, they heard about our Little Sprouts Learning Center. They decided to attend BVCC on Student Ministry Sunday with a relative who was in town. Judi said “We could tell the kids were on fire for the Lord and knew the Holy Spirit was moving here.”  This season they have joined the Ron & Debbie Evans life group, attended the recent Discovery, and look forward to getting better acquainted with everyone in the church.

NANCY JONES -  Moving to Bella Vista from Des Moines, IA eight years ago was a wonderful retirement opportunity for Nancy after 25 years of teaching High School Social Studies. She has two daughters. One continues to live in Des Moines and the other in Denver. Nancy also has three grandchildren. Keeping busy with her volunteer work at Crystal Bridges and the Bella Vista Library is a joy in Nancy’s life. She also likes to read, garden and take part in water activities.Growing up in church, Nancy understand the importance of serving the Lord not only inside the church, but also in His community.  She has a passion for literacy projects and working with children. Nancy and her friend and neighbor, Jim Kelly, became familiar with BVCC through an advertisement for Pastor Ron’s “Ecclesiastes” series last fall and were very interested in hearing it. Through the months that they attended Nancy said it became evident that they had “found the perfect new church home.” Nancy was baptized by Jim last Sunday on Decision Day. (PTL!)

JIM KELLY  -  Jim relocated to NWA from Chicago, IL in 1996, taking an early retirement after 35 years of employment with the Santa Fe Railroad as Director of Quality Control.Upon his move to Bella Vista he decided he wasn’t quite ready for “retirement” and became a licensed contractor, handyman, and jack-of -all-trades. He continues to operate his business today. Jim has two children. A daughter in San Antonio and a son in Denver, plus three grandchildren. Jim just  concluded 17 years of volunteer service with the Bella Vista Courtesy Van.  He also gave of his time and gifts building homes for with Habitat for Humanity through the years. Jim enjoys playing golf and restoring vintage cars, most recently his ’67 Barracuda and now a ’64 Ford pickup. A charter member of one of our local churches, Highlands Christian, Jim has a passion to help grow the Kingdom for Christ.  He said  it has been a thrill to see “something so special between Nancy and myself with our Lord. It was an overwhelming experience to baptize her with our new church family present last week.”

EVETTE & KELLY LANGE  - Evette moved to NWA twenty-one years ago from Tupelo, MS.  She has been a school teacher in elementary education for 27 years and is presently a 4th Grade teacher at Elm Tree in the Bentonville School District.  Her son, Kelly, is a Senior at Gravette High School and is an outstanding musician. He participates in the jazz and concert bands playing the Bari saxophone. He has joined the BVCC student band recently on the drums. Kelly has been a part of the Boy Scout organization for many years.  He is currently completing his Eagle Scout qualifications.  (Mark Lankford has been one of Kelly’s Scoutmasters over the years.)  Scouting is also an activity that is shared by his mom.  Evette is on the Scout Committee and a Merit Badge Counselor.  The Lord has called Evette to be a part of  a 30-member team that will be leaving for Honduras on Nov. 16 for a medical and loving mission trip to that country.  While there, the group will serve with World Gospel Outreach doing basic medical and dental care, and sharing the story of Jesus by witnessing through a loving ministry (washing and styling children's hair.) Evette will share some of her gifts in Honduras, such as singing and leading children and youth, as she has done for many years in churches she has attended, most recently at Rogers Christian and the Cowboy Church.  Evette is happy that the Lord opened the door wide for this trip and she would appreciate our prayer warriors lifting her and the team up in prayer as they prepare to go.

JERRI KELLY  - We also welcomed Evette’s mother to the BVCC fellowship on Decision Sunday. Jerri has a home in Tupelo, MS, but travels north regularly visiting Evette and Kelly and her son in St. Louis.  She also has a younger sister in Natchez, MS, who is like a daughter.  Jerri taught school for 38 years  before her retirement. Her life has been blessed through her teaching of conservation to others and Jerri is truly in awe of God’s nature and His world.   Jerri was 12 when she was saved and accepted Jesus Christ.  As she grew up and matured Jerri found that her love has grown even deeper for Him and has kept it a priority to serve and put Jesus first in her life. In the past Jerri had a passion for singing in the church choir, but now she has found a real heart for missions.  Jerri, Evette and Kelly were acquainted with BVCC through David Conrad at Camp Joshua. Kelly began attending first, and mom and grandma followed shortly after.  Jerri said the whole family “has fallen in love with God’s Spirit at BVCC and the way His Word is presented.”  Jerri is enjoying being a part of the LifeChangers group on Sunday mornings and the Lamb’s life group on Wednesday.
